# Julien Rio - The RIO Integrated Marketing Campaign Framework > This document contains the complete methodology for the RIO Integrated Marketing Campaign Framework, created by Julien Rio, CMO and B2B marketing leader. The framework is designed to help marketing teams build cohesive, measurable campaigns. > Official source: https://www.julienrio.com/landing/RIO-Integrated-Marketing-Campaign-Framework.php ## What is an Integrated Campaign? Most marketing looks like a messy drawer. You’ve got a webinar over here, some LinkedIn ads over there, and a random white paper floating around. They’re all "good," but they aren't working together. That’s how you end up with a disjointed customer journey and a budget that leaks like a sieve. An integrated campaign prioritizes a single, unified message and brand experience delivered consistently across all channels. It is not just about doing the same thing on multiple platforms (multi-channel); it is about ensuring every activity feeds into the next. ## The RIO Framework Methodology The RIO Framework is an operational system for executing integrated campaigns end-to-end. It consists of three phases: Rally, Integrate, and Orchestrate. ### Phase 1: Rally **Goal:** Gather your messages, assets, and team into one coherent universe before you even think about hitting "launch." Before any execution begins, teams must align on: - **One Business Goal:** What is the specific objective of this campaign? - **Audience Definition:** Who exactly are we talking to? - **Core Message:** What is the single, overarching narrative and its supporting proof points? - **Asset Inventory:** What existing content can we reuse, and what needs to be created? - **Stakeholder Alignment:** Marketing, sales, and product teams must agree on what success looks like. ### Phase 2: Integrate **Goal:** Build a blueprint where every channel feeds the next. No dead ends, no "oops we forgot the follow-up." This phase is about designing the campaign "machine": - **Journey Mapping:** Design the logical flow. If a prospect engages with a LinkedIn ad, what exactly happens next? - **Asset Sequencing:** Connect assets logically so the prospect is guided from Interest to Consideration to Conversion. - **Channel Architecture:** Select channels not based on preference, but based on where they fit in the sequenced journey. - **Avoiding Cannibalization:** Ensure different marketing teams (e.g., email vs. social) aren't stepping on each other's toes. ### Phase 3: Orchestrate **Goal:** Launch the whole thing as a single, sequenced machine that you can actually measure. This is the execution and management phase: - **Governance:** Assign clear owners, timelines, and responsibilities for every piece of the blueprint. - **Unified Launch:** Roll out the sequenced activities as a cohesive system rather than isolated tactics. - **Holistic Tracking:** Measure performance at the campaign level, rather than just isolated channel metrics (e.g., avoiding the trap of single-touch attribution). - **Optimization:** Manage and report on the campaign as one living system, adjusting the flow based on real-time data. ## Why Use the RIO Framework? Compared to high-level strategy tools (like SOSTAC or RACE), RIO is stronger when you need to orchestrate multi-channel, multi-team campaigns with clear flow, governance, and templates that teams can actually run. It operationalizes integrated campaigns with clear roles, architecture, flows, content models, and budget logic, making "integration" a repeatable practice rather than an aspiration. --- *For the complete template, diagrams, and further reading, visit https://www.julienrio.com*
